Fraser Health’s facility for citizens with complex care needs, dementia, and acquired brain injury opened its doors in Mission on Tuesday, April 2, 2014.
The Residence in Mission (T.R.I.M.), on the site of Mission Memorial Hospital, features 192 private suites and four double occupancy suites for couples.
The Residence is one part of a campus of care. It offers an adult day program for non-residents, a ‘Respite Hotel’ to give caregivers in the community time away from caregiving, and The Cedars, an adjacent assisted living facility.
There are 188 beds for permanent residents and 12 respite beds. The recreation department of T.R.I.M. has a variety of programs for the residents. The volunteers and Junior volunteers from the Mission Health Care Auxiliary are helping the recreation staff with the activities.
The programs are bus trip outings, bowling, bingo, baking, lunch club, one-on-one visits and the comfort cart each week.
